Dwelling Place

“Mommy, did you know that when you hug yourself, you are giving God a hug?”

We are lying on his bed in the dark. Prayers said. Waiting for sleep to take hold.

“I never really thought about it like that before.”

“It’s true, you know, because He’s always there.”

“Where did you learn that?” I ask, envisioning my creative friend who is his Bible teacher on Wednesday nights.

“I just now thought of it.”

“Oh.”

I wrap my arms around myself in the dark, breathless with the thought that within this body is something holy.

He’s always there.

Yet, I walk around on these feet, unaware most moments.

The Holy Spirit lives in me. This Person of the Trinity dwells within this flesh and blood.

Is there no greater mystery than this?

I’m hugging myself tonight, that I might touch God.

Beloved, He is always there.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

Once again your sharing confirmed exactly what God was speaking to me tonight! I was reminded tonight as I too was lying with my little one waiting for sleep to come, of a lesson I learned a while back. Here is part of the song that ran through my head: Walking through the wilderness, the path is still not clear. But I know you’re with me. You’re always near.
Thanks for sharing. I think I’ll give myself a hug, too!
Sweet dreams to you tonight, friend!

Hey friend, I love this….cause when I am sad or lonely or hurting I wrap my arms around myself and hug me tight…. Cause at those times I need His hug so desperately.

I love the simple words of your son. I love that He gets it so early in life. He will carry that with Him.

    I love the God hugs…..

Love & Hugs to you today,
    Julie

Thanks for sharing this dear friend!
    Hugs,

I love how God has such a special relationship with children! Thank you for the reminder that holiness resides in me. I can’t believe I take that for granted as much as I do!
Have a blessed weekend sweet friend!
