TerKeurst Tuesdays

Today we say goodbye to our study on Lysa TerKeurst’s book, What Happens When Women Walk in Faith. This last chapter is entitled: Every Promise Fulfilled.

Ladies, I cannot believe we are on our last chapter! I feel that I have wandered the 40 years with the Israelites! I am ready to enter the Promised Land…How about you?

This walk with Lysa has had both sweet and bitterly convicting moments. This last chapter was no different!

As Lysa compared the leadership styles of Moses and Joshua, I tried to put myself in the shoes of both of these spiritual giants. It was a humbling exercise, my friends. I know that, even with the tiny assignments God gives me every day, I frequently ask Him, “Are you sure about that, Lord?” Doubt and insecurity often prevent me from being the type of leader that I dream of being.

Lysa reminds us that Joshua had the advantage of learning from Moses’ mistakes. Then she poses this question: “Now, what kind of difference will their lives have on the way we walk?” Lysa points out that we not only have the example of Moses, but that of Joshua…as well as all the other spiritual giants in the Bible!

May we live out the lessons we learn from these people who walked with God…sometimes confidently….sometimes, not so much. We have all of their stories to draw from when we create our own.

I believe that God fulfills all of His promises. Now I want to live my life like I truly believe that!
I love the scripture passage Lysa closes with. Joshua reminds his people:

“You yourselves have seen everything the Lord your God has done to all these nations for your sake; it was the Lord who fought for you…” (Joshua 23)

This same Lord fights for me too. He is my God. His promises will never return empty.

Praise Him! Hallelujah!
