We have been pondering the real Mary. (Did I mention that L.L. Barkat is having a book giveaway here? And if you’re into that kind of thing, check out my book giveaway here…)

There is so much reality that our eyes don’t see, Beloved.

Our poetrylady challenges us to create a poem this week using the words, “The Real…”

This RAP is inspired by my morning reading: Isaiah 58.

The false one
quietly knocks
at door
sits down
offers delicacies
smile full
of guile
moves into
the house
next door
and invites
me in
to the comfort of
until the hunger
from the

the Real Hunger
wakes me up
in the deep
of night
at my bones
with cravings
pounding on
breaking ribs
tearing heart
screaming from depths
of throat
until emptiness
is all
I am.

The Real Hunger
that being emptied
is all
that fills.

    The Real Hunger
    that being emptied
    is all
    that fills.

Great truth compressed into a succinct verse. Great job. I thought of the verse about Jesus emptying himself to come here (Phil. 2) and then us taking up our cross. We give up our things to take on those of Jesus. Good post.

A perfect fit with my recent hunger pains. Thankfully, I sense the tide shifting in a better direction. God is tending to my soul and feeding me with a simple goodness that seems, well, too simple to be enough. But it is… enough. God has seen to it. Praying his comfort and feeding over your heart this day; hoping that the flu has made its exit from your household.

If you ever need to chat, you know where to find me. I’d love to pray for you more specifically if you’d like.

Yay! You are the first to try this prompt, with delightful results. 🙂

Looking forward to Friday and so glad you’re “back in the game.”

(Just scheduled a post to go with your book club post on Monday too… looking forward to that discussion also! 🙂

I had a talk with one who has discovered a deep yearning that cannot be filled by anything this world has to offer. We have prayed for him for years.
Praying that he will find that emptied of all those things will lead to real filling.
    Beautiful Laura.
