How To Spend a Snow Day and the Winner of Thin Places!

Sometimes the world slows down and we are given the gift of more time together. Here are some ways we have been treasuring that gift this week.

Read a good book…

Our new favorite:

Red Sings From Treetops
by Joyce Sidman, illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski

The pictures sing!

Check this out:
Red darts, jags,
 hovers;
a blur of wings,
a sequined throat.

Red whispers
along my finger
with little
beetle feet.
Simply lovely…makes my heart sing.

and they still love a good read aloud!

Make Something Yummy…
 Jeffrey’s famous Monkey bread.

the finished product–deliciousness!

Catch Up On Board Games…

Jeffy is the Twister champion, but I rock at Yahtzee!

Play In the Snow…

snow angels
snow devils! I’m too old for this.

I’m really too old for this!

And Finally, Give Something Away!

The winner of my Thin Places giveaway is S. Etole of Just…A Moment.
Congratulations, Susan! I’ll be in touch.

Tell me how you’ve been spending the winter weather…I’d love to hear!

What a great way to spend snow days!!! For me, it is usually curled up with a study of some sort and a few cup of decaf coffee.

    Love to you Miss Laura

    Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

this make me smile laura. the monkey bread looks deliciously sticky and messy and just like something that i would love. the snow angels… i always wondered why someone called it an angel and not a devil ; )

as for snow days… we have pyjama parties and stay in bed days and i too read aloud to calvin and we make pancakes with nutella. the fire is of course always on.

I am so proud of you for getting on that sled. I know how you feel about the getting too old thing. But I think that is a lie that we believe sometimes that keeps us from enjoying some really fun things in life. I got out on the sled last year but I haven’t braved it yet this year. 🙂
