31-ish Days of Prayer: A Prayer for our Home

A warm bed, a full tummy, arms that wrap around us tight…we have so much, Lord. But if we do not have relationship with you, we are left empty. You have built this house and it will stand, as long as you desire it to. Let your love fall over our dwelling like a gentle rain, seeping into every nook, every corner, every crack. Your Spirit is welcome here, we invite you into our home, into our very lives; penetrate down deep into our marrow, Love. Let this house and our hearts be coated so thick with you that we will see no other way. Bless the work of our hands as we join in redeeming the earth with you—one small piece at a time. Lord, scripture says that when the righteous prosper, the city rejoices. Make it so. Make it so. Let us be a blessing to the world around us, so that we may rejoice together and give praise to you. It all starts here—within these four walls, under this roof. Bless this place, Father, which houses our bodies. And let us be good stewards of all you entrust to us. In your holy name we pray, Amen.

    Dear Laura
This reminds me of that verse in Psalm 27 (I think?) where God says that unless He builds the house, those who built labor in vain.

Amen! I’m praying this with you, too. Yes, Lord, “Your Spirit is welcome here, we invite you into our home, into our very lives; penetrate down deep into our marrow, Love.” Break through our walls and resistance to You and show us Your Love.
