How Can I Say I’m Sorry (a poem)

what are words when
your eyes have touched
my soul?
happiness brims
under the light
of your gaze—a flash
of silver shining in
the stream; rippling
off my skin;
skittish—filling me
with this river
of want
I bear the
weight of a thousand
loves, this  body
carries the memory
of all God has done;
these bones a
scaffold of hope
how can I say
I’m sorry—that I
want to wear you like
a second skin—when
some days I do
not trust myself to
lift my eyes to you?

    such an intimate glimpse into your soul, Laura. Sweet, beautiful worship right here in your raw self revealed and scrawled out here.

    Dear Laura
    Oh, I know those days when you realize that you will of yourself never be worthy to lift your eyes to Jesus, but this is a great place to be. It is here where we can look down and see our Lord Jesus washing our feet regardless of what we have done. It humbles me to realize that there is just nothing we can “add” to his plan of salvation.
