Valentine: A Poem

on this day for
lovers, white
devours the sky
and I drive
away from you—
miles and
miles between
us.
what would
st. valentine say?
he who passed
his love notes
through prison
bars?
the pulse in
your neck, an
invitation for
lips and that
hollow under
your hip bone…
I am far away
but you are
near; this
invisible thread
that binds me
to you pulls the
breath right out
of me,
and I am filled
with regret at
words unsaid.

    Dear Laura
This is so true. We to often say words that should never have been said and to few are the words that we should have said. Beautiful poem, dear friend.
